Teonna answered the phone on the 5th ring. It was her coworker-friend calling her to make sure she was still up for covering her weekend shift. Teonna had promised the coworker that she’d cover her weekend shift if she would cover her past Monday shift, but another friend of hers had offered her two tickets to her favorite music band concert the same weekend. She was in turmoil. This would be her first time ever attending a concert by the band, and she wanted this more than anything in the world. But a promise is a promise, and she decided that it was more noble to stand by it. To her surprise, she was released from work a few hours earlier, which got her to the concert one song into it. The price she was willing to pay to save her conscience.
