The Importance of Your First Impression

Good Morning People!!

Trenton stepped into the elevator and pushed the button that would take him to the fifth floor. Today was the day he would land the job he had been working toward for the past four years in college. As the elevator doors opened, his phone buzzed. He immediately checked it, put it back in his pocket, and stepped out.

While sitting in the lobby awaiting the interviewer, his phone buzzed again. Once more, he removed it from his pocket, glanced at it, and shoved it back in. During the interview, Trenton’s phone didn’t just buzz once—it buzzed three times. Each and every time, he took a glance at it.

The interviewer noticed this, and because of it, Trenton had to face the hard truth: after this interview, four years of preparation were about to go down the drain.

One pet peeve of mine is the cleanliness of my living room. It is the first visual impression your visitors see when they enter your home. It is your guests’ first impression of your living habits and beliefs. So listen up, people: how you present yourself to the rest of the world can make all the difference in how others perceive you.

Always stay well put together and create a genuine likability about yourself. Stay ready, stand on your ten toes, carry a smile, and offer a firm handshake. You just never know when you will meet the person who could change your life for the better. So the next time you make an appearance, do your best to make the right one.
