The Importance of Leading by Example

Good Morning, People

Jeanie lived in a neighborhood where hope had been fading over the years. Everyone’s yards were overgrown, and each yard seemed completely trashed most of the time. The morale was gone. Change needed to happen. Jeanie believed change started with one action. To test the waters, she cleaned her yard, painted her fence, and smiled at everyone who passed. Then she organized a Saturday clean-up. Only two neighbors showed up, but she kept at it. Week after week, more joined. Kids began picking up trash, teens offered to help the elderly, and laughter started replacing silence. Her actions lit a spark. People saw what she’d done and thought, “If she can, I can too.”

Now, Jeanie’s once-forgotten neighborhood thrives—because she showed that change starts with one bold step forward.

Today’s topic is on “The Importance of Leading by Example.”

Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about actions. The best leaders don’t just talk the talk; they walk it daily. Whether it’s in business, family, or community, your actions create a ripple that influences others. People may hear what you say, but they believe what you do. So listen up, people—you have the power to lead simply by being consistent, compassionate, and courageous. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. As John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”

So the next time someone looks your way—make sure they’re seeing the best version of you.
